2 Year Post Graduate Degree - Post Graduation in English

This course offers a comprehensive study of literary traditions spanning multiple periods and genres. In the first year, students delve into English fiction, classical and Renaissance poetry, 16th and 17th-century drama, and American novels, gaining insights into various theatrical forms and thematic elements. They also engage with literary criticism and theory to refine their analytical skills. The second year focuses on literature from the long 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, examining key literary developments within their socio-cultural contexts. Special areas of study include partition writings, which critically explore the partition of India, and Dalit studies, focusing on the literature and cultural expressions of marginalized communities. The course places a strong emphasis on dissertation work, cultivating students' research skills and fostering ethical academic inquiry.

This includes an exploration of key literary developments and their socio-cultural contexts. Special focus areas include partition writings, which critically analyses partition of India as a major socio-historical phenomenon and assesses its reflection in Literature, and Dalit studies, which explore the literature and cultural expressions of marginalized communities.
