An expert lecture titled “Cracking the Union Budget 2026–27” was successfully conducted by department of management and commerce on 17th February 2026 at Jagannath University for the students and faculty members. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 40 students along with the faculty members from various departments, making it an engaging and intellectually enriching academic event.

The lecture was delivered by Professor Parveen Chauhan, a distinguished expertise in economic policy. He provided an in-depth analysis of the Union Budget 2026–27, explaining its structure, key highlights, and broader economic implications. The session was designed to offer both conceptual clarity and practical insights, enabling participants to understand the legal, economic, and policy dimensions of the Budget.

Professor Chauhan elaborated on important aspects such as taxation reforms, fiscal deficit targets, sectoral allocations, and welfare schemes introduced in the Budget. He discussed the constitutional framework governing the Budget, including the roles of Parliament, the Finance Ministry, and relevant financial legislation. Special emphasis was laid on understanding how budgetary provisions impact governance, public policy, and socio-economic development.

The lecture also highlighted the significance of budget analysis for competitive examinations, academic research, policy drafting, and informed citizenship. Through interactive discussions and practical examples, Professor Chauhan encouraged students to critically examine fiscal policies and their long-term implications. The session concluded with a vibrant question-and-answer round, reflecting the keen interest and active participation of the attendees.
