National Seminar on Life and Philosophy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev was held today i.e. 11.11.2019 in the University as part of 550th birth celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev. Prof. S.D Chamola, HAU, Hisar, Wg. Cdr. D.B.S Sethi and Dr. Onkar Singh from Gurugram participated as invited resource persons. The seminar was attended by the faculty members and students in large numbers. The thrust of the seminar was sharing views about the life and philosophy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev and the lessons that can be drawn for issues faced by the present day society. The key note speaker Prof. S. D. Chamola shared his views on the similarities and dissimilarities between various religions of the world and suggested that world can attain peace by pursuing common ethics and avoiding areas of differences of opinion. Wg. Cdr. D.B.S. Sethi gave a detailed account of focus of Gurbani and emphasized that adoption of its basic principles by people can help improve peace in the society. Dr. Onkar Singh narrated the story of identifications of Panj Piaras by Guru Govind Singh and highlighted the background of the use of word ‘Singh’ with the name of Sikhs. The Vice Chancellor while welcoming the guests shared his views on important lessons that can be drawn from Guru Nanak philosophy for modern world. Dr. Pragi proposed the vote of thanks.
On the whole it was a successful seminar and the students and faculty showed key interest in deliberations.
