Jagannath University, Bahadurgarh, Haryana in collobaration with an NGO named as “Tree Revolution” based at Sonepat Haryana has organized tree plantation on 13/07/2019 at its main campus. Prof. H. L. Verma, Vice Chancellor, Jagannath University appraised the program. Under this joint activity 300 plants of “Karanj” (Pongamia pinnata) have been planted. Dr. R. K. Behl, Dean (Agriculture) said that this tree species is uniquely poised at par with Neem being mosquito repellant and having germicidal property. This plant makes dense umbrella shaped canopy and its leaves, bark and seed are useful for developing biopesticides. It sequesters lot of carbon dioxide for its growth and hence useful as bioenergy source.
Founder of Tree Revolution, Mr. Rahul Gupta said that urbanization and other activities of human beings has destroyed the environment by deforestation and number of trees is decreasing day by day. Those days are not far when life will be no more on earth.
The faculty, administrative staff of university and members of Tree Revolution who donated Karanj plants jointly planted trees at the campus of Jagannath University in best interest of environment protection. Both the organizations are committed towards environmental protection and celebrated this day as “Paryavaran Suraksha Sankalp Diwas”. At this occasion, Sh. Sarabjit Dhankhar and others nobles from the villages surrounding the university, Mr. Chanchal Nandal from Lokhit, Mr. Siddharth Malhan and other members of Tree Revolution, Prof. J.S. Laura, Head of Environmental Study department, M.D.U., Rohtak along with Dr. Gaurav Aggarwal, Dean (Engineering), Dr. R. K. Mudgil, Head (Physiotherapy), Dr. Varun Arora, Head (Pharmacy), Dr. N. S. Rathee, Head (Sciences), Ms. Jyoti Jain, Head (Law), Mr. Vijay Dahiya, Head, (CE), Mr. Mohit Jain, Joint Registrar, Ms. Neha Bhat, Registrar and other staff members were present.
